About A Genealogical Journey
Please sign in to see more. ~This site is dedicated to my family and their history.~
I was inspired to create this tree in 2005 when two members of my family died without my having ever met them. I realized then just how little I knew about my family, and how much history I was completely unaware of, despite it leading directly to my own existence.
Since then I have added 600 names, traced one line back to Charlemagne and learned a ton about my family history. Of course, the more you learn the more you want to learn. I feel like I've barely begun at this point and hope to continue adding names and stories for years to come.
At the time of this writing I am working on adding at least one source to every name. Thanks to the genius of Tribal Pages, I can also include the credibility of the source, from unreliable (someone else has the name in their tree, unsourced) to direct (I know the person or am in possession of their birth certificate).
As I want this to be an accurate history of my family, credible sources and interesting additions are extremely important to me. Anyone who has birth certificates, tombstone pictures, photos with names written on the back or anything along those lines is encouraged to contact me. I will of course share anything I have with you, also.
A note about names: I had trouble deciding how to add names to my tree, as
many of the people in my family changed their names (sometimes more than once!),
go by their middle names or took on the name of a step-parent or adoptive
parent. In the end, I decided the most accurate way to approach this was with
birth names. Whatever their name was on the day of their birth is the name I
have used, and have added notes to include other names.
I welcome corrections, questions and feedback. Please contact me at: robynsroots@hotmail.com or leave a message in the guestbook.
